Last August I published A Year in the Life of a Civil War Soldier: The 1864 Diary of Frank Steinbaugh. This month second and third cousins discovered the book and contacted me. They are descended from Frank Steinbaugh's oldest child while I am descended from Frank's second child. We don't know each other. They have done a lot of research on Frank and the Steinbaugh family and while it is all interesting, the thing that fascinated me most was that Frank had two older brothers who came to America first and were supposed to meet him here. They never showed. I wonder what happened to them. Sounds like a mystery to me.
